What is Herbal Medicine?
It is the art and science of using plants for promoting health, preventing and/or treating illnesses. Herbal medicines may be taken in many forms: as teas, in tinctures or sweet glycerin, as a powder, in tablet or capsule form, or as a culinary experience. Topical applications include salves, creams, liniments, oils, baths, poultices or compresses.
Without plants we would not exist as a species, and as our medicine it is what we have relied upon since mankind began walking this earth millions of years ago. Although it has been overshadowed by the use of synthetic medications in America since World War II, 80 % of the world’s population still relies upon herbal medicine as its’ primary medicine.
